Strawberry

Burnham Park , Baguio City

I was 10 years old when my Tito Ed and Tita Shirley took me to Baguio City. I heard it was a nice place to go to especially during the summer because of cooler weather. From what I remember, we did sightseeing at Burnham Park, Minesview Park and Camp John Hay. The most exciting part about this trip was I got to try strawberries for the first time. These strawberries are much smaller than the regular strawberries here in California. The taste was super tart and the texture was soft.

Did you know these strawberries come from La Trinidad (located in the province of Benguet, situated 30 minutes away from Baguio City) aka “The Strawberry Capital of the Philippines?” They host an annual Strawberry Festival

Good Shepherd Strawberry Jam

One of my favorite iterations of strawberry is jam. Growing up, I got to enjoy the Strawberry Jam (sweet with chunks of strawberry) from Good Shepherd. The perfect meryenda especially with hot pandesal. I bet you must be craving for strawberries at this point. It is timely because May is typically the annual California Strawberry Festival (unfortunately, it is cancelled this year). But you can still get these strawberries from your local farmer’s market.

Next month, our featured pie flavor is Strawberry Cream. Our signature graham cracker crust filled with fresh strawberry custard topped with vanilla bean whipped cream. Stay tuned for photos on our social media in the next couple of weeks.
